This Victorian era brooch showcases the Japanese technique of Shakudō. Shakudō alloy was developed in feudal Japan to decorate samurai sword handles among other items, traditionally made of an alloy of copper and 4 to 10% gold. This brooch is crafted in silver and 10 karat gold. Featuring two men pulling a rickshaw with passenger up a hill with the exquisitely detailed miniature scene showing cherry blossoms and a building in the background. Measuring 50 x 30mm with a thickness of 5mm at the rickshaw this is a very special item for anyone who appreciates well crafted jewellery, Victorian or Japanese culture.
