Tahitian pearls are the only pearls that can cover the full colour spectrum.  Grown in Pinctada margaritifera, the black-lip pearl oyster that have a rainbow-like mantel that exhibit natural colours that range from light, creamy white and grey to the regal greens and iridescent peacock to deep black.  Produced in French Polynesia, by law the thinnest nacre coating allowed to be exported is 0.8mm around the bead nucleus, where as for akoya pearls that would be considered very thick.  With sizes that range from 8mm all the way to 18mm, it can take thousands of pearls to make one strand of perfectly colour matched Tahitian pearls.

These 41 variegated Tahitian pearls are graduated from 8mm at the clasp to 11mm in the centre of the strand.  Beautifully strung on a 14 karat white gold ball clasp that has a slight twist to the open wires.
